Hello I am Sharon McGinty
I graduated from the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland with a Diploma and Licentiate in Acupuncture in 2011. I am a registered Acupuncturist with the AFPA, the oldest and largest professional body for practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Ireland.
I also studied Chinese Herbal Medicine and am registered with Association of Chinese Herbal Medicine in Ireland. Currently I am studying for a Diploma in Chinese Medicine Dermatology with World renowned Mazin Al Khafaji.
I am also a Registered General Nurse with experience working in general medicine, surgery, general practice, care of the elderly and addiction. I draw upon this experience and knowledge to provide a holistic, person centered approach for each patient, treating each individual according to their specific symptoms. Through the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I aim to focus on promoting health, preventing illness and treating health challenges through natural alternatives that compliment and enhance Western Medicine.
I have completed a clinical internship at the World Health Organisation Collaborative Centre of Traditional Medicine at Nanjing University, China. During this time I had the privilege to work with Dr Wen Lie Qiao, who is well respected across Europe. It was from her that I learnt Abdominal Acupuncture which is actually new in TCM terms. Her principle of pain free needling, use of as few needles as possible along with a gentle consultative approach with patients is proven to create optimum results.
I have had training in Master Tung Style Acupuncture with Susan Johnson, Henry McCann and Hans-Georg Ross which also uses the principle of minimal needling with excellent results. I trained with Master Tehfu Tan, he was well known in the acupuncture community for his results using a minimal number of distal points to avoid aggravating local areas of pain.
I have attended training by Virginia Doran and more recently Travall Croom in Facial Rejuvenation Aesthetic Acupuncture.
I have had training in Ear Acupuncture and Scalp Acupuncture which is very effective for treating neurological problems and also Korean Hand Acupuncture.
Most recently I have studied TCM Fertility with Dr Trevor Wing and Dermatology with Mazin Al Khafaji, both of whom are Eminent experts in their areas of medicine.
